This week was an easy week since we didn’t have a match on Sunday. I decided to take a little trip and went to Brighton at the weekend. Tara Norris of the Southern Vipers recommended me to go there because there is a beautiful beach and delicious gelato!

Walking down to the beach, I had a seafood lunch in the restaurant, “Riddle & Finns on the Beach". The views over the beach were fantastic. I had 6 Jersey oyster and filet of fish which was a treat.

After visiting the beach and Palace Pier, I went to North Lane Bazaar. There was art in every corner and so much vintage accessories and fashion.

I haven’t travelled alone before but it was a big step for me to go on this trip by myself and and I enjoyed it a lot.

During the final week every day felt precious. I’m not particularly outgoing so I stayed home on my free days to relax. I felt that since we had to take Covid tests before flying home, I didn’t want to take the risk of turning out a positive test and not making it on the plane home!

During our last week, we went in to London and had lunch with Rodney and Tash on the Thursday. Tash was surprised that we decided to have pasta or pizza at lunch. Since we were going home so soon, we were not desperate for Asian food. After lunch, Heiley and I went to Lord’s Cricket Ground to buy some souvenirs, but unlucky that their biggest shop wasn’t open as it wasn’t a match day. In the evening we went to meet our teammates from Hong Kong: Mariko, Yasmin and Ruchitha. Seeing them in the UK made us feel like we hadn’t left Hong Kong, it was as if we were back at home!

Sunday was my last match for St. Cross. I’m sad that as I am just getting to know my teammates well I have to say goodbye. They presented me a white floppy St. Cross sun hat before the match. That’s why Finty randomly asked me about my head size the Friday before!

This match was the lowest score I had seen in our season. We were 130 for 6 in 33rd over. Luckily I had a good day, hitting 5 boundaries and 29 not out in only 21 balls, as our pair added 44 to the score very quickly. We finished on 174 after 40 overs. I thought it was a good total, but chaseable.

However, we managed to get them 107 for 6 with 15+ overs to go, a good start but the total was still within reach, but our bowlers were on fire! Wickets started falling quickly after their 6th wicket— and they were all out for 117 runs in the 32nd over. St. Cross still has three more games to go and I wish them all the best and to win all the remaining games.
