We had a fantastic result on Sunday as Cove CC Women won their first match in 3 years! It was hard to play during the UK’s heatwave however, Naomi and Mimi fought through it building a partnership that lasted 30 overs, scoring 150 together. Our final total was 243!

We gave 100% commitment in the field and with an outstanding bowling performance, we bowled our opponents out in 34.4 overs and won by 36 runs. What a finish for our first win!

Taking our learnings from earlier games and our motto of “little steps lead to big steps” we all made slight changes and contributed to a big result in our favour, it was a great learning experience.

It is our second last week in the UK. This week I only have club training and club coaching on. I helped to coach the U13-U15 every Tuesday and this week is their last training session. Every week we have over 30+ kids, and there are always 5-6 coaches or volunteers here to help. At the end, Louise said that all the kids liked me and listened to me, it was very humbling to hear. I think it is because they are very nice kids, they gave me respect even as a non-English speaker. I’ll miss them!

Hiking is one of my favorite activities in Hong Kong. I hoped to do some hiking from day one in the UK. But I wasn’t sure what the conditions were like and nervous if I were to get lost, I don’t know the area well! I found out there is a small hill in Winchester so we went there instead of a big hike. We went to St Catherine’s Hill and starting at 4pm so we could take a sunset photo, but it was a cloudy day so we gave up.

St. Cross Cricket Club is in between the hill and the way home so we stopped to watch the last part of the men’s game and have a beer. It was a very exciting game, I thought St. Cross would lose, but in cricket anything can happen. As sit happened, St. Cross took three wickets in the last over with 1 more wicket needed to draw. Sadly the last ball got hit to four. Close games of cricket are the best games, it was fun to watch!
